Residency Period: September - October 2016
Stephanie Sherman's projects transform sites and stories of popular consumption into platforms for co-production and collaboration. She develops organizations, programs, and architectures that design new tools and structures for communication and exchange between artists and the public. These projects imagine new social possibilities for the systems and surplus of everyday life. She believes that there is an art to everything. Stephanie received a MA in Critical Theory and Visual Studies from Duke University and is working on a PhD in Art History, Theory, and Criticism at UC San Diego. She is a co-founder of Elsewhere, a living museum in Greensboro, North Carolina, and part of Common Field’s founding leadership.
