How do I find out about volunteer opportunities for attorneys?
You can start by filling out the New Attorney Registration form. Our team will contact you based on the needs of the organization and your areas of expertise. The registration form can be found here.
Is my firm responsible for fees and costs?
We leave this arrangement up to you and your firm, although fees and costs are typically paid by the artist. Locust Projects asks that you clarify this arrangement with any clients you agree to assist.
Do I need to join Locust Projets to volunteer?
While a Locust Proejcts membership is not necessary to volunteer with LegalLink, we encourage you to dive in.
Do I have to be an arts/entertainment lawyer to participate?
No, Locust Projects provides a wide range of legal services. All areas of expertise are needed and welcomed.
What is the extent of the engagement with the client?
Once a matter is accepted, the Locust Projects artist becomes your client. The extent of the engagement will depend on the complexity of the issue but should be equivalent to that provided to any other client with a similar legal issue.
What about clients who do not qualify for pro bono services?
LegalLink asks clients for income information; however, we currently accept all cases from artists in Florida. We certainly understand and respect any income pro bono restrictions that your firm has in place.
Are Locust Projects matters transaction- or litigation-related?
LegalLink provides services for a wide-range of legal issues, which include transactional and litigation-related matters. As a volunteer attorney, you will have the opportunity to choose what matters you take on depending on your interest, comfort, or expertise.
After I accept a matter, what is Locust Projects's role?
After a matter has been placed with a volunteer attorney, Locust Projects will continue to provide support to the volunteer attorney and artist-client. We may request updates from the attorney to maintain our records up to date or to contact the client if necessary.
Do I need malpractice insurance to volunteer?
At this time, LegalLink accepts volunteer attorneys who are not covered by malpractice insurance.
What if I can no longer handle a matter?
If you find that you can no longer handle a LegalLink case, please immediately contact the LegalLink Coordinator at 305.930.9301 or firstname.lastname@example.org
so that we can place the client with another attorney.
What if a client is unresponsive?

immediately so that we can assist you in contacting your client or to assist in effectively closing the matter.
